Why does our Spotify Wrapped look different from everyone else’s?
A screenshot of the "Your Top Song" slide from Spotify Wrapped, with a picture of the Green Line coming into Boylston Station edited in where the album cover would be.

Image text: Your top song was The Boylston Screech by The Green Line / You played it 103 times this year, starting on January 8. And it still sounds perfect.

.@Boston_Rooney is right on the money. The MBTA Board's comments are the kind of "managed decline" that riders, businesses, and climate champions should fight tooth and nail.
The MBTA is leaning toward a “new normal” of lower ridership, a stance that is stirring criticism from Jim Rooney, the president and CEO of the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce. commonwealthmagazine.org/transportation…

The US is the 6th-most expensive country in the world to build rapid transit infrastructure, & yet the quality & quantity of transit projects is considerably inferior. 🧵 So, why does it cost so much to build transit in the US?
This chart illustrates just how expensive building transit in the US is. All but 1 of the top 5 most expensive subway projects were built in the US. The top 3 most expensive were all built in New York City.

Estimating conservatively, New York City’s price for one kilometer of subway or commuter rail tunnel is about five times more expensive than Tokyo’s, eight times more expensive than Berlin’s or Paris’s, & twelve times more expensive than Barcelona’s.
