- Nebraska and Michigan State will honor Sam Foltz and Mike Sadler during a pre-game ceremony on Saturday involving the head coaches, parents of Foltz and Sadler and specialists of both teams. It's the first meeting between NU and MSU since Foltz and Sadler died on July 23, 2016.
- Nebraska players have nothing to prove, toughness and love for the game, all that. They did that every day of this most taxing season. So did the rest of college football. Thanks for playing, dudes. And Merry Christmas.
- Nebraska is 5-1 with six games remaining. Huskers showed they could win a rock fight. Blackshirts controlled this one and bailed out special teams again. Lot of sore, happy Huskers walked off the field. Bye week comes at a perfect time.
- Will Bolt’s team won five straight after the opening loss and he brought Brett Sears in to close the title. How do you like him now?
- All four teams that played in Volleyball Day In Nebraska made the NCAA tourney, with Wayne State and UN-Kearney in D-2 tourney and Omaha making its first ever D-1 appearance. That event had some serious karma.Mission Accomplished #OmahaVB
- Mickey Joseph has not spoken with Trev Alberts about the coaching job. I asked him if he would be open to serve on the next coach’s staff: “I would sit down and talk with the family, talk to Trev and that head coach and find out what my role would be. I would love to stay.”
- That was a perfect farewell address by John Cook. More emotion than I expected. How should NU honor his legacy? Call it the Devaney-Cook Center.
- Greg McDermott and Creighton are nearing contract extension that would allow the coach to retire at Creighton. Not done yet.
- I love all of these crazy, stupid, wonderful bowls. The bowls were always intended to be exhibitions, and that will be more true in playoff era. I like the different non-con matchups, wacky sponsors and venues. Don’t like ‘em? Don’t watch.
