I don’t know who needs to hear this, but buying books and reading books are two separate hobbies.

- People with strong follow-up games rule the world.
- Scene: an Uber in Utah. Driver: “So what do you do for work?” Me: “I work for a school that trains engineers — they pay nothing until they get a job.” Driver: “What, like, Lambda?”
- Tinder and MasterClass should launch a crossover where you match with someone with a skill you both want to practice, and then you do that thing together on the date

- Starting to think that what looks like genius is often just patience and long time horizons.
- I think people still underestimate what a crapshoot the hiring process is.
- When you think about it, it's pretty weird that you go to school for 15-20 years and then never go back to school again.
- I had surgery last week to repair damaged nerves in my spine. T plus three days, took my first steps! Now: four weeks to teach my body how to walk again. Thankfully, I‘m in balmy Minnesota!
- Met someone who I first got to know through podcasts, but they sounded weird in person. Realized what the problem was, and had to resist the urge to ask them to speak at 1.75x. Very 2019.
