50 broadcast years in the books— covered first March madness in 1969 for the old WSWM with daily radio show as a 19 yr old collegian— thankful for the ride and hope for it to continue! Quiet celebration at home.

Calling Luke Fickell names for saying no to MSU doesn't help MSU's cause with others. FWIW, I agree with Lynn Henning Detroit News-- check out 37 yr old Jim Leonhard, Wisc or 34 yr old Brian Hartline, OSU. Right age, right pedigree, right time go outside!

I cannot tell you how delighted I am that WILX TV is announcing today the hiring of Fred Heumann to join our sports staff. We worked together in the 1980s. He begins soon, we'll visit on radio tomorrow morning 10:25 and as I told Tom Izzo, WILX finally gets competent sports guy!

Best night of the year! CAAC senior scholar/athlete ceremonies at Holt H.S. The cream of the crop 190 student/athletes who reinvigorate me every year along with their coaches/AD's. My involvement never gets old.I never take being asked to participate for granted it's that good!

I’ve seen a lot of high school quarterbacks through the years —DeWitt’s Tyler Holtz is the best passer of em all. And I love Cooper Rush who’s in the NFL — Brown University hit the jackpot and bigger colleges will regret not recruiting him.

Sad news. Gus Ganakas, former MSU basketball coach, died today at the age of 92. One of MSU's all time great athletic ambassadors. He loved MSU and basketball and joins his wife Ruth who passed away a few years ago. He leaves six children.

Congrats to Fred Heumann 2024 Greater Lansing sports hall of famer— no one in my memory has the respect from so many coaches he has and he’ll hear it at his induction August 8th.

Condolences to the Bullough family on patriarch Henry’s passing over the weekend at age 85. A true all time Spartan great in many ways and an icon in MSU football history.
