Now that the effort by some quarters of Film Twitter to trash Maestro has come to an apparently successful end, may I take a moment to pay tribute to a victim of its collateral damage? It’s the beautifully detailed and heartbreaking work by Carey Mulligan, who deserved better.

Just why Walter Salles’ I’M STILL HERE works so well as a family/political drama is thanks to a 1st act filled with a loving & caring family. So when Dad Is snatched by the Brazilian dictatorship, you achingly feel his absence. FYI Fernanda Torres is superb. #ImStillHere #AFIFEST

BEING THE RICARDOS is not the movie I expected…because it’s good. Very good, in fact, and easily Aaron Sorkin’s best effort as director. Kidman proves the skeptics wrong (including me), and Sorkin has given real moments to shine to each of his first-rate cast. #BeingTheRicardos
