Attorney, programmer, student of life (remedial).
There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer.
- Every man's worse nightmare came true for me today. For years I've accumulated all the cables I've ever had into a drawer-- you know the drawer. After years of collecting dust, I finally convinced myself I could throw away my VGA cables. A few months later, I need a VGA cable.
- "How to lie with statistics." If you don't immediately understand why this chart is fundamentally and irredeemably terrible, you should seek a refund from your alma mater.
- This is by far the most low IQ election I've had the displeasure of enduring in my life, and the competition was stiff. Everything is about weirdness and pedos and banging couches and nicknames like Tampon Tim. No substance. No deliberation. No sign of intelligent life.
- You can't get this NYT graph by coincidence or incompetence. It's malicious statistics. For another angle, I made a graph with absolute numbers and fixed the time alignment. By-month was the only way to mark Floyd's death honestly. (And yes, homicide really is this cyclical.)"How to lie with statistics." - Replying to @damintoellThis still doesn't top my all-time favorite deposition moment where my client responded to a question, "I'm sorry, can you repeat that? Because it sounded like you asked a stupid fucking question."
- Replying to @hollowearthterfMen behaving like this think they are conveying a level of status by doing so. Something like, "Look at how cool I am. I can afford to have higher standards than this." Anyone with a modicum of EQ sees through it for the desperate peacocking that it is.
- If you are shocked by the outcome of an important event, and another group doesn't seem surprised at all, you should get curious about their media diet... and yours.Free Press readers saw last night coming because we’ve been covering the voices ignored, from East Palestine, Ohio, to Dearborn, Michigan, the campus madness, big tech’s overreach, and the border crisis. - In August, I weighed 205 lbs & could barely run a 10 minute mile. I set tough end of year goals & said I had to meet them or abstain from coffee for all of 2025. Today I stepped on the scale at 184.5, benched 260lbs, rucked my 500th mile, and ran a 21:53 5k. (Receipts below.)By the end of the year, I'll: Weigh: 185 Bench 1-rep max: 260 5k run: 22 minutes Have rucked 500 miles (w/50lbs+) If I can't do all of these, I must go the entire 2025 calendar year without coffee. Please hold me to this.
- Replying to @micah_erfanThis is the statistical version of a felony. It shows a 0.3% change with the most egregiously cropped y-axis I have ever seen. Here is a similarly sliced chart of manufacturing jobs since January 2023:
- What's interesting is political activists do the exact opposite of what legal activists do. When a legal opinion you don't like comes out, legal activists try to limit the scope & applicability of the opinion. Political activists claim it's far broader, to actively fearmonger.
- The level of scrutiny you apply to claims you don't want to believe is also the level of scrutiny you're supposed to apply to claims you do want to believe.
- Replying to @wil_da_beast630I was a law student at Michigan in 2015-2018. This was painfully apparent. What's more maddening is those are the people who were *more* likely to crusade against others for outwardly exhibiting wrongthink. I think the mentality is, "I have to play pretend, and so do you."
- No president in history had ever pardoned a family member until Bill Clinton pardoned his brother for federal drug charges. Now 3 of the last 5 presidents have pardoned family members, with GWB and Obama being the exceptions. This is what norm erosion does.
