- And that team was ... The Detroit Tigers. The Yankees had not lost back-to-back home games against the same team since April 2nd and 3rd ... until tonight.
00:00 - Is there a medical version of “hitting for the cycle?” ‘Cause I didn’t do a lot, but I managed to have a stoke, get diagnosed with testicular cancer and find a hole in my heart in just 5 days time.
- Results are back, and I appear to be cancer-free. So that’s good. It’s been 42 minutes since @theford’s follow up appointment with his oncologist was supposed to start. We find out today if his 3 cycles of chemo did the job they were supposed to do. God, I hope so.
- Never did I think when I had a stroke on Opening Day — and got out of the hospital on the day of the Tigers’ home opener — that I’d be in Comerica Park for a home playoff game, much less a potential series clincher. And yet …
- Well, the Lions picked one heck of a way to wrap up the wildest week of football @freepsports has seen in a long, long time. And they even made Monday print (in most places), with coverage from @davebirkett, @seideljeff, @junfuphoto, @ericseals, @Greg__Stark and many, many more.
- Was Sunday's MSU win over Duke a sign of another NCAA title run? It's a hoops-filled edition of Monday's @freep and @freepsports, with six pages of coverage from @shawnwindsor, @DozierSr, @chrissolari, @Graham_Couch, @Greg__Stark, @orion_sang and many, many others.
- This has been absolutely the CRAZIEST run I've seen a team make since I was a teen (oh, the 1995 M's), and honestly, this 2024 Tigers team might beat them. From Saturday's @freepsports edition, with great work from @EvanPetzold, @junfuphoto and @visualdavid from Comerica Park.
- The MiggyDay that keeps on giving, as @FreepSports went hard on Miguel Cabrera's final day as a Tiger for Monday's edition, with great work from @EvanPetzold, @cmonarrez, @shawnwindsor, @DozierSr, @DetroitMandi, @ericseals, @Greg__Stark and many, many more ...
- Some personal/professional news: Starting Monday, I'll be moving up to deputy sports editor for @freepsports. Excited for the new role (which is a lot like my old one, honestly), a little over 15 years after moving to Detroit. #overnightsensation
- Good luck in Houston, JV. One of my fave pitchers to design around here @freepsports. (Can't find no-no #2 on my phone, unfortunately.)
- Cassius Winston and the Spartans come through in the clutch in the B1G regular-season finale. An early look at the first edition of Monday's @freepsports, full of great work from @chrissolari, @shawnwindsor, @DozierSr, @orion_sang, @Greg__Stark and many more. On to Indianapolis!
- If we know 2 things in April @freepsports, it's Tigers baseball and the Final Four. (If we know 3 things, it's that we are so very tired.) 6 pages of Tigers coverage, plus 10 pages of MSU hoops, plus everything else happening. Y'all should see the rest of the pages. (Hint, hint.)
