The story they tell about this majestic tree on Bau Island is that it served to hang bodies to let the blood drain before eating them at the time of #cannibalism in #Fiji 😬
As Their Royal Highnesses The Duke and Duchess of Sussex complete their Royal Visit to #Fiji, I feel privileged to have seen them up close.

Bye mom. When my sister and I were kids, she raised us as a single parent, having lost most of her family in the Cambodian genocide.
She didn't see us as often as she would have liked. Now we're so far away. Spend as much time as you can with your parents.
Always proud on #WorldRefugeeDay of what I became after I fled from the genocide in #Cambodia at the age of 2.
Forever grateful that #France, my country of adoption, allowed me to become one of its Ambassador, before serving the #EuropeanUnion.

Inside the blue circle, a decorated war veteran proudly represents his country at the commemoration of #ArmisticeDay100 in #Paris: HE Ratu Epeli Nailatikau, Former President of the Republic of #Fiji.
A week ago, I was alerted that 2 Judokas from #Fiji were denied boarding to Tahiti, where they were set to compete in the Oceania Open.
After contacts with @ambafrancefj, Te & Shan Takayawa were on the plane, on their way to win Gold & Bronze in Tahiti.
Through heavy traffic, I made it to Bau island for the Great Council of Chiefs in #Fiji.
Formalities haven't started yet, but there's is already this strong sense of tradition, identity and history all around.
10 October is for our family a very special day. It's the birthday of our first born and it's the National Day of #Fiji, where we lived 6 years.
You can take the family out of #Fiji but you can't take #Fiji out of the family. Happy #FijiDay!
