This is a cruelty. Nigerians are creating some of the best speculative fiction in the world, and it is crucial that they be represented at WorldCon. Shame on the Irish embassy in Nigeria.

Strange Horizons grieves the passing of Maureen Kincaid Speller, our head of Reviews. Maureen was a pillar of the Strange Horizons family. She illumined all our lives with her warmth, her care, and her generosity. Our hearts are with Paul, and all her other loved ones.

If volunteer-run online magazines can figure out how to publish translations without full-on copyright infringement, the British Museum has no excuse. Translation is part of the artistic process and needs to be compensated and credited.
Um, hey @britishmuseum, it's come to my attention that your exhibit "China's hidden century" uses my translations of Qiu Jin's poetry, but you never contacted me for permission. Please note this is a copyright infringement! How are you going to fix this?? #NameTheTranslator

I want to point out that we've never had a WorldCon in all of Africa, ever. Time for that to change. If folks won't let Nigerians in, it's time to bring WorldCon to Nigeria.
