Penguin bubble party? Yes please! 🫧🐧
One-year-old rockhopper penguin Bumi had a blast with bubble enrichment! Keepers set up a bubble machine for the indoor habitat at Penguin & Puffin Coast for a fun bubble party.
Polar bear Kali has the choice to stay inside in air conditioning or go into his outside habitat. Most of the time, he chooses to go outside. His habitat is full of fun enrichment and has multiple ice machines, cooling fans, shade, and saltwater pools kept cool year-round.
The photo shows a content, healthy bear relaxing on a bed of ice in his favorite napping pose. Bears, just like a lot of animals and pets, sleep in all sorts of positions (yes, sometimes even ones that seem odd). This is normal bear behavior seen both in zoos and in the wild.
Look who's Jetting around behind the scenes!
Baby Asian elephant Jet reached a new milestone last week when he explored the Zoo's largest behind-the-scenes elephant habitat for the first time. He is expected to make his public debut later this spring.
Say hello to five adorable cheetah cubs born May 5 at the Saint Louis Zoo! 👋
These cuties are the first litter for parents Cora and Vader and the first successful cheetah births at the Zoo in more than seven years.
The cubs are expected to make a public debut later this year.
Today, our king penguins Ethel and Elliot, along with gentoo penguins CJ, Oshie, Linus, Sunny, Double, and Trouble, took a quick field trip in the snow to visit their neighbors, polar bear Kali and grizzly bears Huck and Finley.
Watch this adorable moment when 1-year-old Cornelia, a Sichuan takin (rhymes with rockin’), meets her brand-new baby brother, Spud.
Spud was born on March 29 to Dawn and dad Yadier. Come say hi to this cute “little potato” next time you’re at the Zoo’s Red Rocks!
IT'S A BOY! 🐘
Asian elephant Jade gave birth to a baby boy named Jet at 4:32 a.m. on Saturday, November 23.
This birth marks the first elephant calf born through artificial insemination at the Zoo and the beginning of a fourth generation of our elephant family.
For the first time in 27 years, a male Asian elephant was born at the Saint Louis Zoo! We are excited to announce Asian elephant Rani gave birth to Raja’s first son at 1:55pm 7/6/20. Mother and yet-to-be-named calf are doing well. More info: stlzoo.org/about/contact/…

Aw, such big smiles to start the day! These excited tawny frogmouths are a family trio. Seen here is the dad and two month old chicks after one of the keepers greeted them in the morning. Tawny frogmouth parents share egg incubation and the brooding of the chicks. #StlZoo
No matter how snowy it gets, Saint Louis Zoo keepers and other staff are here to make sure animals get the best care (and some fun snow enrichment inside!)
We are closed to the public today, but enjoy these scenes captured by keepers from our snow closure days earlier this week.
