The passing of Jane Goodall brings to mind this sequence from 'Tarzan' that I wrote and boarded. Goodall came to Disney in the early days of the project to talk about her work with chimpanzees. While sharing stories and observations, she broke into guttural grunts and loud howls.
Imagine seeing this arcane character from a Disney flop prancing around the parks today! Would you have any clue who this dude is? “Meet the Robinson’s” had decent reviews but failed at the box office sending him to the land of obscurity for evermore.
Disney and Pixar storyman Joe Ranft created this amazing guide to pitching storyboards. As someone who was terrified of public speaking, these tips were a lifesaver when I first started as a story artist. Forever grateful, Joe!
Happy Anniversary to ‘Brother Bear,’ my second story supervisor role at Disney Animation! These sketches are from an early version of Kenai waking up as a bear and being greeted by Tanana
I’m Steve Anderson and I’ve been directing and storyboarding animation for over 30 years. Let’s all #StandWithAnimation and support the human beings that create the magic!
Let’s remind everyone that their favorite animation is made by us—human animation workers! Post a pic or illustration of yourself, include your job & favorite series or movies you’ve worked on & tag TAG so we can share! Thanks Hannah Partlow for this graphic. #StandWithAnimation
I used to have this poster hanging in my room as a teenager and wound get lost staring at those beautifully realized faces. Thank you Drew Struzan for capturing my imagination as an artist and movie lover.
To be fair, they’re right that the movie flopped and failed at the box office. And saying we got ‘decent reviews’ is being generous.
That said, you’re all amazing!❤️
I cannot believe that ‘Tarzan’ is 25 years old! It will always have a special place in my heart as my first film as a story artist and my first film at Disney.
