    Roki Sasaki was 9 when a tsunami ripped through his hometown. His father and grandparents died, as did 18,000 others along Japan's northeast coast. That day dictated so much of what came after for Sasaki. Baseball made him happiest, so he started chasing a major league dream.

    Our hearts are shattered. My sweet sister, Bethany, died as she slept in her dorm room Thursday night. She was 20. She was COVID-19 positive. The cause of death was a pulmonary embolism—the result of a blood clot—widely recognized as a common cause of death in COVID-19 patients.

    Rob Manfred has said he needs to repair his relationship with MLB players following the lockout. Here’s a small gesture from Opening Day. Each player had a gift box waiting at their locker with Bose headphones and this “note of appreciation” from Manfred inside.

    In 2017, an Astros player FaceTimed Chris Archer to tell him he was tipping pitches. That was a lie. The Astros were banging a trash can. “It sucks when you dedicate your whole life to something, and somebody’s out there doing some shady shit like that.”
