"They never got a road contract again" Surprise, surprise, surprise!
Junglee Maharaj Road, Pune: This road is legendary for being pothole free. Built by a contractor Recondo run by 2 Parsi brothers in the 1970’s. It employed the best technique & materials And gave a guarantee to repair it for free for 10 years. They never got a road contract again

As a professor in the Dept. of AI at @IITHyderabad , I feel obliged to ask: What does MoE consider to be "AI for third-graders"? We should teach children fundamentals that will last them a lifetime, not trendy stuff with limited shelf-life.
🚨 India will introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the school curriculum from Class 3 onwards starting 2026-27. - Ministry of Education.

"something broke in the Hindu psyche this year" I am beginning to believe this more and more.
London is looking like a just another Indian city today. Fireworks popping off everywhere for hours, roads bloced for Diwali celebrations and the ceremonial fireworks at Neasden are vicious(sorry bad quality videos). The tune as compared to last year was very powerful and

This action will surely cause a massive drop in the democracy ratings -- of India!🤣🤣🤣
Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland: "as of today, a bank or other financial service provider will be able to immediately freeze or suspend an account without a court order." "they will be protected from civil liability for actions taken in good faith." ConvoyReports.com

Get rid of Humanities and Social Studies from ALL IITs. They are mostly garbage and only vitiate the learning environment.
The media must stop amplifying the voices of fringe groups with ideological agendas. Misrepresenting a small, unofficial student faction as the stance of the entire IIT community is misleading and damaging. Responsible journalism matters. @timesalgebraind @TOIIndiaNews

"Humanities departments are now adding net negative value to society." I disagree only with "now."
Painful to see this as an alum and a donor to the institute. Does faculty at @iitbombay @IndiaDST think that longest serving PM is fooling people, and Army is an oppressive force? Humanities departments are now adding net negative value to society.

When the Soviet Union collapsed in 1991, the US squeezed India, e.g., denial of cryogenic technology. But eventually we survived because we had strong domestic R&D. Now Modi has totally destroyed domestic STEM R&D capabilities, leaving us highly vulnerable to such arm-twisting.
How the United States went from organizing a counter China coalition to organizing a counter India coalition will be retold someday as one of the strangest stories in American diplomatic history.

When I was in DRDO, I sometimes went to RA&W HQ. There were room numbers but no name plates. Then when I quit DRDO and joined TCS, I noted that in the TCS HQ, even room numbers were absent. Hence proved that TCS was more secure than RA&W.😂😂
RAW was using Gmail Yahoo and Rediffmail?!!

I can explain. When GST was introduced, IITs etc. paid 5% GST on equipment. We prepared the budgets of our grant proposals accordingly. Then one fine day the GST Council decided that 5% should become 18%. Naturally, there was no increase in research grants to cover this. 1/n
🤔 .@iitdelhi receives notice demanding ₹120 crore GST on research funds: Report IIT-D has been given 30 days by the notification to explain why the sum and any related penalties should not be collected. cnbctv18.com/india/iit-delh…

India is much dirtier than some countries with lower per capita income than India. With us, it's a mindset problem.
Most Indians don't realise how dirty India is.

Friends, Re: Tulsi Gabbard, I will state my views simply. If we insist on having only "Indian-American" politicians, we will get Ro Khanna and Pramila Jayapal. If we broaden the ambit to "Hindu-Americans," we Tulsi Gabbard instead. The choice is ours. 1/n

The Fields Medallists in Mathematics were announced yesterday. But this thread is about the remarkable record of the Ramanujan Award given by SASTRA in Thanjavur in spotting future Fields Medallists. The award recognizes very young mathematicians, under the age of 32. 1/n

I may be forgiven for a bit of chest-thumping. The top three scientists in the Aeronautical Development Agency that developed the LCA Tejas were my Ph.D. students: Girish Deodhare, Amitabh Saraf, and Vijay Patel (the last in the "Ekalavya" mode).
Hearsay: "Tejas is such an immature product that it must stay in Sulur, close to HAL. Can't deploy near the borders". Fact: Some Tejases are returning from Singapore only to deploy to UK in couple of weeks.
