A Tory like Jenrick overseeing Liverpool is a license for more privatisation, less insourcing and a deeper corrosion of political trust & social cohesion in our city. The people who elected me will suffer more as a result, and my conscience won't allow me to silently accept that.

I have left my CLP meeting early because I’m squirming at shallow requests for comradely behaviour. Earlier this year I was forced to resign from my job with an MP because of threats from local members. Their call for comradeship is an insult to the very meaning of the word.

If seize means taking back derelict properties which private developers/ landlords sit on for years whilst we human beings sleep on the streets then yes we mean seize.

I am one of hundreds of Labour Councillors signing this letter. We need to join the international community in calling for both a release of hostages and a ceasefire. History has taught us that continued violence causes division. A ceasefire is the first step to peace.

Solidarity with all striking workers. Solidarity to every community support service that goes above and beyond to protect local people. We have endured enough of this cruel Tory government. #EnoughIsEnough

As a working class woman, money has been a huge barrier to my dream of becoming a barrister. The argument for free education means so much more than just eradicating fees. It’s removing obstacles which keep working class voices out of certain professions. Buzzing 📚

The majority of people in my community are living week to week, trying to afford food, pay soaring bills and increased rents. This government is stealing a decent standard of living from millions of people. #EnoughIsEnough

I’m extremely pleased to announce that government has finally approved our Landlord Licensing Scheme. The private renter sector is dangerously unregulated, leaving tenants vulnerable to horrendous poor housing standards. Private landlords must be held accountable!

Item 9 – Mayoral announcements Cabinet member for development and housing @srcdoyle announces that the government has approved the council’s proposal for a Selective Landlord Licensing Scheme. The scheme will cover about 45k homes and allow the council to drive up standards.

Today I remember my father’s dad, who died whilst working on an unsafe construction site in the 1950’s. The ramifications for my dad and his family were terrible. Another Irish family facing destitution. Another Irish immigrant who became a statistic. There was no investigation.

“Housing is one of the most critical issues of the moment, he believes, and one of the most visible manifestations of inequality. He wants emergency funding to clear renters’ Covid-related arrears and wraparound advice services to help deal with the coming wave of debt.” YES 👏

So you want to ‘help’ the homeless but at the same time vote against and slander the only political party that has the values and policies which would end homelessness. Charity work is one thing, systematic change is another. Reality check: we need socialism, not sympathy.

Today on our one year anniversary my best friend, @TomLogan00 proposed with the most beautiful Easter Lily engagement ring. Made in County Cavan, stamped in Dublin Castle and treasured by me forever.
