This is a complicated story that has been botched by most in the media for 10+ years and yet because this podcast team does their homework they managed to cover a lot of ground in a relatively short period of time. - This romanticized mythology of gangsters (almost always exclusively advanced by them) giving back to the community spans time, space, and race/ethnicity. This is usually news to the community supposedly being helped or protectedA lot of people don’t know about the Black Mafia or Junior Black Mafia (JBM)….. from what I read they was terrorizing the streets but taking care of the neighborhood if that makes sense. When the leaders started dying & getting arrested everything collapsed.
