University of Arizona chose to (try to) brand itself as UArizona instead of UA. You know what a Google search of UArizona brings up first? SNL making fun of the school for UArizona. #brandingfail

Mike Smith of @OleMissSoftball says the legacy of @Kaitlin00 and other seniors is what they did in four years, not in #TempeRegional final. @BTPSoftball

NFL coaches hate distraction. Here’s a good example why: the 2022 Arizona Cardinals. Consider all of what has happened since the Cardinals lost their playoff game to the Rams last January (a thread): 1/

    Replying to @PacFight
People outside Arizona don't understand the level of vitriol between ASU-UA. They think it's just another in-state rivalry so they "hate" each other. No, it goes way beyond that. UA actually tried to keep ASU from becoming a university and used to subvert ASU. It's institutional.

Interesting factoid: Schools in Gilbert won the 4A (ALA-Gilbert), 5A (Higley) and 6A (Highland) football titles, while the open division champion (Basha) is literally across the street from Gilbert and has an attendance boundary that crosses into town.

My 90-year-old mother had her vaccination @StateFarmStdm tonight and said it was “marvelous”—organized, efficient, staffed by kind workers who were well trained. In and out in 35 minutes.

Journalism that made a real difference
Breaking: Sonya Forte Duhé will not assume the position of Cronkite dean on July 1, according to an ASU spokesperson. An interim dean will be announced at a later date.

On a personal note, my dad died last night. Les Blodgett was 90 years old. He also was a very good man.

.⁦@brieannafrank⁩ once upon a time was an intern for me. Honestly, a nicer *person* you could not meet. And even then clearly was going to be a good reporter. Whether you wear a mask or not, whatever your beliefs, we can and must do better than this poynter.org/reporting-edit…

That’s fine. Agree 💯 But BYU fans should stop telling other teams they’re low class for doing similar things. You’re not morally superior.

I have been at this journalism thing for 32 year professionally, and I now have to retire my joke about being the only journalist on faculty or to speak at conferences or on panels who couldn’t be described as an award-winning journalist.

Some non-political observations from covering @GilbertJenn the past two years. When CI arrived in town, we met with her to introduce ourselves off record. But Daniels said nothing was off record with her. If she said it, we could print it. Transparency was important to her. 1/5
