What @tryramp looked like in 2020
Goal was already uncomfortably ambitious: $10mm in txn volume
It is unbelievable to see Ramp has crossed $1bn ANNUALIZED REVENUE now
Congrats to best team ๐ ๐ซถ
P.S. Yes those are chopsticks I taped to a TV screen (story for another day)
10 years ago I left NYC to join a small startup called Instacart in SF
Moved back to NYC
Now 10 years later here I am again in SF. Deja vu is funny
So is the takeaway that something in SF water is just diff?
P.S. Here's baby me post-Instacart interview. RIP this restaurant
I'm a big fan of internet writing
This year I've been inhaling the standout blogs of 2 very different writers
- @majamediaco (love, relationships, emotions, self)
- @justinskycak (education, students, learning, math)
Highly recommend both, and always looking for new recs!
During the last 5 years, being a startup founder officially became a status symbol, like going to Harvard.
No wonder so many founders now play status games
But creating true value has always been about performing for your users and customers, not performance art to VCs
Why are so many startups pitching the same ideas?
This is the result of โstartup cateringโ, where founders work on the problems they believe VCs care about, rather than problems they are connected to.
It occurs whenever there is a strong and vocal consensus amongst investors
I got to tell @waitbutwhy how his essay changed my relationship with my parents. If you haven't read The Tail End, I recommend it, maybe when you're alone. I cry every time I read it. waitbutwhy.com/2015/12/the-taโฆ
