    Short announcement that I’m taking over Seattle Mariners coverage at The News Tribune. I have genuinely enjoyed covering high school athletes in the South Sound the past four years, and hope to still help where I can. Meanwhile, preps are in good hands with @gateway_jon.

    Honestly, the most impressive player on any high school basketball team is the one that stands at the end of the introduction line and remembers how to do all of the creative handshakes with the starters each game.

    Dee Gordon steals second, and on another pitch comes screaming around the bases on a pitch that bounces off of the home plate umpire and to the backstop. Umpire down on the ground for a moment before getting up. Was a swinging third strike, but Mallex Smith runs to first. Weird.
