Spent the whole day in bed cuddling the little dog, before taking him to the vets. This time, he didn’t come home. He was the best boy.

This is Ruby. She’s a 9-y-o golden retriever who has come to live with us as her elderly owner is no longer able to care for her. She’s a sweetheart, and already very attached to her new duck…

So, M & I are selling our house. We have accepted an offer on it. The woman whose offer we have accepted has been to see the house FOUR times. This weekend, she wants to bring a friend to see it. I said no (as it didn’t work for us & also because we’re not a bloody theme park).

Not quite the holiday we’d planned… The poor(ly) 11-y-o and I have been transferred via ambulance and boat from the (only) hospital in Kefalonia to one on the mainland with a specialist paediatric unit. It’s 99.9% certain it’s appendicitis, in which case they’ll operate.

M has since agreed with the estate agent that she can visit. He is nice & I am not — I know this. But this will be the FIFTH time she’s visited — & each time, obviously, we have to make sure it’s immaculate. AND shut the dogs away. Am I wrong to be grumpy about this?

And yes, I know I’m being grumpy — but really, how accommodating do you need to be?

By contrast, we have been to see the house we’re meant to by buying twice. Once/if we exchange, we will then ask to visit again in order to measure up, etc. We will only invite friends to visit once we actually live there.

Tomorrow, seven months after being made redundant, and not really working (apart from intermittently freelancing), I go back to work! In an office. With other/real people. Please wish me luck. (NB: I am excited about/looking forward to it!)

Going to my Dad’s GP this afternoon, at my Dad’s request, to say he doesn’t want any further medical interventions, just pain relief if needed. He doesn’t want to be here any more. I get that — & I knew this day was coming, but it doesn’t make it any easier. Please send love…

Dear #NotAllMen, No, it’s not — but here’s the thing: it is #AllWomen: I don’t know a single female friend who hasn’t, at some point, been followed, threatened, verbally or physically abused, subjected to lewd comments or suggestions, or otherwise harassed (at BEST)…

Thank you, @RSPCA_official, for the nine plus years I had with my beautiful boy. I said goodbye for the last time today and have never been sadder — but am so grateful to have had him in my life. #AdoptDontShop #adoptober

Raising a glass of wine to celebrate the fact my Dad had heart surgery today & is now in recovery, eating toast! Thank you, @NHSMillion!

So, for all those who gave me advice re whether or not to go grey, here I am, embracing middle age with VERY short, more-salt-than-pepper hair. (And jet lag.)
