This is so horrible. I am hearing two medical residents in NYC have died of COVID-19 after serving on the front line w/o proper PPE. So many years of education and with so much potential, to succumb like this—they truly are heroes.

Income volatility is hugely detrimental, linked to higher risk of heart attacks and strokes. Mitt Romney (essentially @AndrewYang's) proposal is attractive both as an economic and public health measure.
NEW from @MittRomney: “Every American adult should immediately receive $1,000 to help ensure families and workers can meet their short-term obligations and increase spending in the economy.”

New York City is asking doctors to come out of retirement to help take care of COVID patients. Why not start w the U.S. relaxing restrictions on the thousands of immigrant physicians already working in this country, so they can go anywhere they’re needed?

More ammunition for @AndrewYang and other supporters of universal basic income.
Such a great article: “Households that got cash instead of standard aid packages saved 60% more, consumed 32% more, & expanded productive assets like livestock by 76% more...Recipients' diets improved & so did their kid’s height, weight, and...survival" bostonglobe.com/2020/10/17/opi…

Doctors and nurses may be heroes in this pandemic, but we will not be martyrs. My op-ed in the ⁦@nytimes⁩. nytimes.com/2020/04/02/opi…

I have been rejected by @Harvard more times than any living person. College, grad school, law school, med school, MSTP, residency, and fellowship, too. So when a friend sends me a picture of my book at the Harvard bookstore, it can’t help but put a 😊 on my face.

Some other ammunition for @AndrewYang supporters: Among middle-aged adults, >50% income drops were linked to higher risk of heart disease, while income rise was linked to significantly lower risk. Evidence that universal basic income could be good for public health. #DemDebate

Since there’s been so much talk about commotio cordis with regard to #DamarHamlin, I figured I’d give a short explainer.   Commotio cordis was discovered by a guy named George Mines who worked in Montreal in the early 1900s. By a cruel twist, it was also the reason he died. (1/n)

Nearly 1 out of 3 physicians, 1 out of 4 dentists, 1 out of 5 pharmacists, and 1 out of 6 nurses in this country were not born in the US. It’s simple, really: Without immigrants, our healthcare system would fall apart.

More for the #YangGang: Income volatility has also been linked to poor brain health. @AndrewYang’s UBI looks attractive simply as a public health measure. #DemDebate

The electronic medical record today is bloated and inaccurate, mainly because of rampant copying and pasting. I wrote about this in @statnews. Here’s a short summary... (1)

Death is not simply a biological fact, but it's also a social choice. To increase the number of donor organs, we should expand the definition of death. An op-ed I wrote with Snehal Patel and Deane Smith in the @nytimes today. nytimes.com/2025/07/30/opi… via @nytopinion

As @ewarren rightly points out, forcing diabetics to ration insulin because they can’t afford it is a moral stain on our society. #DemDebate

A beloved patient of mine died at home today. Lab tests suggest #COVID19. He was a World War II veteran, one of the oldest on Long Island. Lovely man, wry wit, kind soul. His twin brother succumbed in a different pandemic, the Spanish flu...101 years ago.
