- Mississippi State University Head Football Coach Mike Leach had a personal health issue at his home earlier today (Sunday, Dec. 11, 2022). That issue led to a decision to transfer Coach Leach to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson by ambulance. (1 of 4)
- I don’t want a new state flag because of the NCAA or the SEC. I want it so my children and grandchildren can live in a Mississippi focused on the future, not the past. I remember segregation days and ways. Those weren’t anyone’s good ole days. Change the flag. Change our future.
- MEDIA - From the Leach family: “We are uplifted by the outpouring of love and prayers from family, friends, Mississippi State University, the hospital staff, and football fans around the world. Thank you for sharing in the joy of our beloved husband and father’s life.”
- Two MSU greats, the NFL’s Dak Prescott and MLB’s Rafael Palmeiro were together with other MSU alums and friends at the second game of the College World Series at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha. Both maintain close ties to MSU Athletics and support the university.
- A year ago today, I was at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston fighting Stage lV Lymphoma. Today, I’m in Omaha at the CWS watching my Bulldogs battle for an NCAA championship. I prayed not just to survive cancer, but to keep living. Thanks, Lord, for letting me get back here.
- Tradition to ring a bell after one’s final chemo treatment. Guess which bell I’m ringing? Thanks for your prayers, concern and friendship!!!
- Ben Howland is a truly fine Christian man who deeply cared about the young men he coached at MSU. He's the kind of guy you'd want coaching your son or grandson. He left Bulldog basketball better than he found it. I admire him, appreciate his friendship, and wish him the best.
- From his first MSU press conference in 2020 shown here to today’s tragic announcement, Mike Leach was the genuine article. I worried when he got in front of an open microphone, but that free spirit and candor was part of Mike’s charm. What a fierce competitor and decent guy.
- We are on the verge of taking a giant step forward in Mississippi. May God grant our legislators courage, fortitude, and wisdom. May we treat one another with respect and dignity in the process. To paraphrase John Wesley, let us do all the good that we can for as long as we can.
- MSU President Mark Keenum and Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott reconnected tonight during Super Bulldog Weekend. Dak remains incredibly loyal to his alma mater. Both are looking forward to seeing the changes new Bulldog Head Coach Joe Moorhead bring to our football team.
- Mississippi State University is retrofitting 500 battery-powered ventilators for use in the state’s fight against COVID-19. UMMC is adapting innovative solutions to COVID-19 testing and treatment needs. Higher Education matters in Mississippi, now more than ever.
