all "beauty" is in the west. So even when praising her "home", she talks of it's "ugliness".
The dehumanized and colourless image of Iran she constructed in Persepolis served the Imperial agenda that led to sanctions and wars against Iranians.
RIP Marjane Satrapi, a brilliant mind and a wonderful soul, gone far too soon. Like many Iranians she remained dedicated to her homeland despite decades in exile:
