So how did Audrey and I end up experiencing the incredible kindness and generosity of being gifted Game 4 Stanley Cup final tickets in Edmonton?
A quick thread on one of the most memorable days of life.
Audrey and I canβt thank Joe and Joanne enough. Between them, the young man who gifted her the puck, and all the messages we got thrilled for our fortuneβ¦ Iβm really grateful for the reminder of how lucky we are. I will never forget this day. Now #letsgooilers again on Tuesday!
Having just had someone try to scam me on Facebook Iβm immediately on guard, but instead we found ourselves invited to join an incredibly kind and generous couple Joe and Joanne who have two extra seats for tonight. They wanted to make someoneβs night. They made our year. Decade?
If you disagree with management on running with the current goaltending I understand.
Stuart Skinner still played his heart out for his hometown & twice got painfully close to a Stanley Cup.
Don't trash the man. He cared deeply even if he fell short.
We will always be fans.
It didnβt feel real until we were actually in the seats. Front row. Tickets I couldnβt ever imagine touching even in regular season let alone the final. Then during warmup a young boy has puck tossed his wayβ¦ and immediately hands it over to Audrey. We were just blown away.
Itβs a miracleβ¦ we randomly walked by the most generous couple who brought us to the game. I donβt even know what to say. Thank you Joe and Joanne. Youβve made our year.
I donβt know how I feel about things like destiny. Itβs just sports and there are way more deserving people than me. I still canβt shake the thought that so much had to happen for this to fall into place and how meaningful it is to me right now.
I remember in his WHL career people told me Stuart Skinnerβs glove hand would keep him out of the NHL. They said he couldnβt beat Carter Hart head to head. He did. Convincingly. He won.
When he started in the ECHL they called him a career minor leaguer at best.
Regardless of any bigger picture, I can promise you thatβs an experience Audrey and I will never forget. A reminder of human kindness and generosity in a time we too often face our negatives. And a win in one of the best atmospheres Iβve ever been a part of. Perfect!
Just another reminder that Joel Hofer wasn't even picked in the WHL Bantam Draft and nobody really knew his name two years ago. Suddenly he's the most famous young goalie in Canada.
