Here's to all the journalists in the Capitol who are documenting this horror in real time.

CDC just cancelled a scheduled press conference without any explanation. Anyone know what's going on? Most unusual.

A stunning tour of how the novel coronavirus damages different parts of the body. Great graphic by Val Altounian, too. sciencemag.org/news/2020/04/h…

Masks of course aren't the only difference--and maybe not even the major one. But data speak. And they're asking a question: Are the no-mask countries making a mistake?

As the old scientific saw goes, you don't need a control group if there's a talking dog. That green line = talking dog. Yes, blue line is a control, and difference is striking, but everyone knows hospitals are buckling. The green line screams the vaccinated aren't the problem.

Shi Zhengli, the researcher at the Wuhan Institute of Virology who studies bat coronaviruses, speaks out in detail for the first time about allegations that her lab leaked a virus that sparked the pandemic. She'd like an apology from Trump. sciencemag.org/news/2020/07/t…

I'm greatly frustrated that my attempts to interview Chinese scientists about COVID-19 lead to cryptic replies or none at all. I'm now increasingly not able to interview U.S. government scientists. HHS Sec. Azar said this calls for "radical transparency." Let's get radical.

I spoke with Anthony Fauci earlier today. Here's the Q&A. sciencemag.org/news/2020/03/i…

One of the most surprising things to me is that people keep being surprised by explosions like New York. The virus is fairly consistent in its behavior. And so are we in our surprise.
A week ago, New York state had 87 detected coronavirus cases per 1m citizens Here's where a lot of Southern states are *today*... the number of *detected* cases. LA: 298 per 1m MS: 107 per 1m TN: 98 per 1m GA: 98 per 1m AR: 72 per 1m FL: 66 per 1m SC: 59 per 1m AL: 44 per 1m

My mother, 91, got vaccinated today. Her sister called at 7am, on a Sunday, and said a local hospital was vaccinating, so they rushed over. My aunt got the tip from a friend who knew a doctor at the hospital. Welcome to COVID-19 vaccine planning in the U.S.

Yes, it's becoming increasingly clear that isolation of infected people, robust tracing and testing of their contacts, and prepared and protected healthcare workers works.
Amazing! What South Korea is doing is really bending their #Covid19 epidemic curve. Only 131 new cases today, versus 909 on Feb. 29. It's not just China. This clearly can be done. cdc.go.kr/board/board.es…

Good COVID-19 news: Monkeys given an old-fashioned, inactivated virus vaccine made by China's Sinovac fended off SARS-CoV-2. It also didn't cause harm. Researchers not connected to work have cautious optimism. Human trials underway. sciencemag.org/news/2020/04/c…

What if a vaccine worked against all SARS-related coronaviruses? SARS survivors who 17 years later received COVID-19 shots make antibodies that, in test tubes, can neutralize a wide range of SARS-CoV-2 variants, and related bat and pangolin viruses. sciencemag.org/news/2021/08/c…

This is a delicious debunking by @thedailybeast about U.S. military contractor report alleging COVID-19 escape from Wuhan lab.
