- Reminder: you don't have to be amazing to apply. Plenty of mediocre people with impressively high self confidence win everyday because they applied and you didn't. Throw your hat in the ring.
- Job Interview Pro tip: When they ask you what questions you have, one of the best questions to ask is "What hesitations do you have about hiring me?" And when you hear the answer, address those hesitations head on as best as you can, ideally with examples.
- Nothing says "I'm a developer" like spending the day automating something that could've been done in an hour.
- If you're holding back on writing that blog post because it's "too basic" or "too simple", stop holding back. I've been googling "basic" python questions for hours and it's your blog posts that have been saving me. Your knowledge is valuable. Write.
- Learning to code isn't supposed to be easy. Keep going. You got this ❤️
- I've spoken at a lot of tech confs over the years, and there are things that are normal now that really threw me off as a 1st-time speaker.
- I’ve interviewed ~200 amazing devs and the real gateway drug is neopetsAutomated by @toomuchsearlsAlmost every programmer you know whose passion, intellect, & skill intimidates you is only even here because they wanted to make videogames.
- A lot of amazing people don't speak at conferences because they think speaking requires being an expert. It doesn't. At all.

- JavaScript can be a pain, but when it works you feel like a god
- Tell people what you think they're good at it. It's amazing how often people don't see their own brilliance.
- Don't put your photo on your resume. All it does is introduce the possibility of reviewers being biased. Just don't do it.
- I don't know who needs to hear this, but having *only* a 9-5 is perfectly fine. You don't have to have a side hustle ❤️
