Truly remarkable that New York City is the best city in the world and New York State is the best state in the union, and yet we somehow are being governed by the Democratic Party’s third string

We will do literally anything before housing people. We will destroy our public space. We will erect hostile architecture. We will content ourselves with our neighbors being forced out of our communities, to our shelters, to the margins of our cities, to our jails. Shameful.

Genuinely cannot believe this is a car on my idyllic west village street. It is a f***ing TANK, and I don’t want to live in a war zone.

Boggles the mind that folks get incensed about the presence of diners on the sidewalk — but don’t rally about ending this status quo state of the streetscape 🚮

Riding the 6 uptown yesterday, I joined 3 million other New Yorkers back on city trains — and the 94% of residents in our district who don’t drive to work. It’s time to reshape our streets — and shift more trips from cars to trains, buses, and bikes.

78% of Manhattan households don't own cars. In the 66th Assembly District, 94% of residents don't commute to work by car. Where's the relief for families and working people who rely on crumbling public transit?
New Yorkers are feeling pain at the pump, so today we’re cutting the state gas tax through the end of the year — now delivering over $600 million in direct relief.
From the Hamburg Town Board to the Governor’s office, I’ll always fight to get New Yorkers the relief they need.

Front of NY absentee ballot return envelope: “No postage necessary if mailed in the United States” Back of NY absentee ballot return envelope: “Did you…put postage on this return envelope?” Leave it to our election administrators to always keep it clear for New York voters!

But explaining *why* there were a lot of gay panic jokes in Friends doesn't mean they weren't homophobic. I was watching Friends earlier today—I love it!—but it always bums me out how high the gay-panic-jokes-per-episode rate is.

The last 72 hours have been equal parts exhausting and energizing. Our state is terribly governed. Why? Those in power assume that New Yorkers who want transformative change aren't worth attending to. But it's been inspiring to see as-yet-invisible powerhouse rising... ⬇️

As a closeted 8-to-18-year-old watching, the laughing *at* gay panic nuance was lost on me—but the gay-is-scary content certainly wasn't. And Friends was a worse offender than the other sitcoms I watched then: Golden Girls, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld. It's a legitimate complaint.

Just had a—very lovely!—Dan Goldman paid canvasser come to my door. I appreciate anyone doing the door-to-door hustle, but she did tell me she's getting $180 per day for four hours of work 😳 $45/hour is awesome, but how can candidates not giving themselves $4 million compete?
