New Working Paper: Teenage boys and girls in Norway are more ideologically polarized than ever. Using data for 130,000 high-schoolers over 34 years, I find that a surge in anti-feminism among boys is driving much of the recent trend.📈 Read: osf.io/preprints/osf/… Findings 🧵👇

Do rich people really work longer hours than poor people? The graph below plots data from the United States (Current Population Survey). Turns out the difference in working hours between the Top 1% and Bottom 1% is only 3.4 hours per week. #dataviz

Poor people in rich countries: Usually the richer the country ➡️ the better off the poor are. But not always. The US, Saudi Arabia, and Switzerland are just as rich as Norway, but the poor are closer to the poor in Slovakia, than the poor in Norway. #dataviz

A simple illustration of wealth inequality in 2021. If there were 10 people on earth, this is how wealth would be split: 1 person: negative wealth (debt) 3 people: less than 1 % each 4 people: between 1 and 6 % each 1 person: 11 % 1 person: 76 % #dataviz

In Russia🇷🇺, the income share of the Top 1% fell suddenly after the Russian Revolution of 1917, and stayed low during Soviet. After the breakup of Soviet, it took under a decade (1990's) for Top 1% income share to reach _higher_ levels than during the days of the Tsars.

What might explain this? A strong candidate is views about gender equality, which have changed just as dramatically as political orientation in recent years. Boys increasingly believe that "gender equality has gone too far".
