Weather is my passion! If you want to ask a question, tweet me! I feature on BBC local radio and Central TV and GB News!
- Snow flakes 3cm in diameter in Leicestershire!
00:00 - Some personal news Alison and i are now proud grandparents to Alfie Anthony Adkin who arrived on Nov 9th weighing 5 pounds 15 oz. Mum and baby are doing well!
- On this day in 1981 we experienced a great snowstorm the first of several snowstorms in the Winter of 1981-82. Temps dropped to -20c locally. The cold started on Dec 7th and lasted until Jan 15th 1982 with just a short milder interlude. They don’t make winters like that anymore!
- If you think today is cold and frosty let me take you back to April 26th 1981. The Midlands experienced a severe snowstorm with 10-20cm of snow for most of us with power line icing causing extensive power cuts too. It was the latest and most potent April snow in recorded history.
- The temperature has just climbed 5c in ten minutes. I have never seen it rise so fast in 30 years of recording.
- Some very sad news to share my dear friends. My Dad Derek James Morrish died this evening on his 82nd birthday. He has been suffering from MND. He had fought bravely but sadly it beat him in the end. God bless you Dad❤️❤️
- The MET office have issued a weather warning for ANOTHER MONTHS rain tomorrow. So after 24 hours where most of us have received 50mm plus tomorrow there could be the same! Severe flooding will be the result if this happens
- Tomorrow is the 48th anniversary of the great June snowfall which fell on 2nd June 1975. Snow fell widely in the morning. Many of the West Indies cricketers playing at Buxton where 3cm fell had never seen snow before. Snow even settled on low ground as far South as London!
- This was supposed to be a band of showers moving along the South coast! Despite all the technology there are still days when the weather surprises us!
- Here’s wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a successful 2024. Thanks for following this year it’s always a pleasure to see your comments! Here is Alison and i with Alfie our 6 week old grandson!! Have a wonderful time everybody!
