    My daughter joined a peaceful protest on the lawn of her university today. It turned violent when the state police showed up in riot gear. She and her friends were sprayed with tear gas. Incredibly frustrated that the adults making decisions aren't better at de-escalation. #vcu

    My mother-in-law voted for @BetoORourke. First time she can remember voting for a democrat for gov. Said #GunControl and #Uvalde made it an easy decision since her grandkids are public school students in Texas. Here’s hoping there are lots more voters like her. We can do this.

    Last time I checked, more than 90% of children in the state of Texas attend a public school. Amazing how much energy some folks in Austin are spending to invest in private schools via vouchers instead of investing in our public schools where the future of Texas sits today. #txed

    If money doesn’t matter in education, why are the most prestigious private schools in Dallas so expensive? Dallas ISD receives $8500 per student Hockaday receives $29,000 per student St Marks receives $29,496 per student Greenhill receives $31,675 per student @DALVotes4Kids

    Whoopi is right... progress is incremental. We can’t dismiss those who have done the work before us because they didn’t go as far as we would have liked. We are standing on the shoulders of those organizers and activists who came before us, and we can continue to move forward.
