Eighty years ago today, on 29 November 1941, my German Jewish grandmother Ilse Cohn was shot by a Nazi murder squad in Kaunas, Lithuania. She had been denied asylum in the UK on the grounds that she was 'too old'. She was 41. #RefugeesNeedHelp

Quite extraordinary that @SuellaBraverman as Home Sec repeats the lie that people arriving in the UK on small boats to seek asylum are doing so illegally. They. Are. Not.

This is a message to the voters of #NorthShropshire: Thursday of next week will be your chance to speak for the nation. Tell @BorisJohnson what you think of his record. We’re relying on you.

It’s worth considering that if @BorisJohnson hadn’t chosen to back Owen Paterson and try to change the lobbying rules in his favour, there would have been no by election in North Shropshire. A spectacular example of crass political misjudgement.

This is how to report a Trump speech: 'He said X, which is a lie, then he said Y, which is also a lie.' washingtonpost.com/politics/trump…

Can't help thinking after the news of the Mike Lynch yacht tragedy of all the other poor souls who have died in the Med over the years when their vessels went down. Not business tycoons, but people fleeing for their lives. Aka fellow human beings.

V sad to announce the death of my father, Fritz Lustig, at the age of 98. He was one of the last surviving 'secret listeners' in British military intelligence during WW2. An exceptionally long life, exceptionally well led.

I always try to defend the BBC whenever I can, but I cannot support this adjudication. It is both wrong and immensely damaging.

Have I got this right? The PM has ‘full confidence’ in a Minister whose behaviour he regards as ‘unacceptable’. And he’s pledged to lead a govt of ‘integrity, professionalism and accountability.’

In the circumstances, this is a pretty remarkable letter.

I’m sure ⁦@elonmusk⁩ will enjoy this one. Thank you, ⁦@PrivateEyeNews⁩ .

Can you imagine Theresa May tweeting something like this?
"We’re the nation that just had six of our scientists and researchers win Nobel Prizes—and every one of them was an immigrant." —@POTUS

I have consulted my battered Thesaurus and can confirm that there is no word in the English language that adequately describes the jaw-dropping, mind-boggling, gob-smacking, history-making ineptitude of our soon-to-be ex-PM. He is simply off the scale.
