Anyone who covered January 6th at the Capitol will recognize what has now crossed the Atlantic. The same conspiracy theories, the same smears, even the same incendiary chants. It needs to be denounced decisively before it threatens all political civility. #January6Parallels
Nancy Pelosi answers a @itvnews question with a stinging rebuke & dire warning to UK government. “How can they walk away from an international agreement?” She makes abundantly clear there will be no UK-US trade agreement - which for @BorisJohnson is the crown jewels of Brexit.
What a way to humiliate a serving British Prime Minister @theresa_may and @KimDarroch, a fine diplomat. And just a month after the State Visit. A presidential tweet that makes a mockery of the British strategy to win influence through charm and flattery.
I have been very critical about the way the U.K. and Prime Minister Theresa May handled Brexit. What a mess she and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done, but she decided to go another way. I do not know the Ambassador, but he is not liked or well....
This is true. Astonishingly leak-proof process by @Oprah and her production team. How did so many revelations in an interview that was conducted days ago stay secret? The rarest of media events. #MeghanAndHarry
1. From a media perspective one of the extraordinary things about the Oprah interview is how CBS did not leak any portions to reporters ahead of time and even members of the media learned about what was in the interview when it aired.
That simply doesn't happen anymore.
Good historical reference @MattGarrahan - it felt a little like that today, though luckily this mob didn’t burn it to the ground...but I believe the burning of Washington was 1814 #RevolutionaryTimes
That will be an interesting dynamic. Not as awkward as the McCain funeral he didn’t attend, but George H.W. Bush made clear he was no fan of Trump, despised his ego, and had voted for Hillary Clinton.
And not only that, also resent how Britain normalised Trump by hosting him for a state visit, and at the way @theresa_may worked so hard to be the first foreign leader into the Oval. Dems admire far more Angela Merkel’s approach to @realDonaldTrump - pragmatic but distant.
Not sure it’s sunk in yet just many of the Obama era Democrats (many of whom will soon be part of a Biden White House) a) associate Boris Johnson with Trump/Trumpism b) remember and begrudge the Obama “part Kenyan” article. Not going to be an easy task for the FCDO.
White House is saying that CNN’s @Acosta - an outstanding reporter we all admire - has had his White House press credentials revoked. The President’s battle with the media has taken an ominous turn.
