Excited for this new opportunity! The UMN Department of Pediatrics has been my home for a long time and I’m honored to lead us through this transition. @UMNPeds
On call today and forgot my pager at home. 📟 Husband, working from home, took a picture of every page I received and sent it to me.
I would like to nominate him for sainthood.
Parents came to visit before my surgery next week. Literally bought me a freezer, put it in my basement, and filled it with meals. THAT”S HOW YOU DO IT.
Paged during dinner, so taking notes. (Non-medical) husband looks over my shoulder.
Him: “Hey, you didn’t do your little drawing?”
Me: “What little drawing??” 🤔
Him: “You know...”
Me: “Ohhh. You mean this one...”
When I see kids for their first clinic visit after kidney transplant, I ask them all:
What did you wish I warned you about that I didn’t?
Was anything a surprise?

Schools going from hybrid to all distance learning. Kids sobbing uncontrollably.
Me: It’s ok to be sad.
14: I’m not sad, I’m mad that no one is taking this seriously.
Me too kid. Me too.
Yesterday was a really good day.
Maybe even a career high.
I should be popping the 🍾.
But with every high has to come a low, right? That’s how this works.
Have you been getting your mammograms like you’re supposed to?
I haven’t. 🧵

Watching the new Zac Efron series on Netflix and his “water sommelier” 💧 tells him to never drink purified water because it will leach all the minerals out of your body. I think my head exploded. 5 minute rant later...
13: Mom. 🙄 It’s not always about the kidneys.
