- 7 yrs ago I had a vague idea our patio would be better without umbrellas but a living umbrella. I wasn’t sure if it would work and I knew it would take yrs. Today … I’m full sun…(it’s a jasmine) it smells amazing and the shade is wonderful. Some plans are years in the making
- Today Rishi Sunak really got the Government front bench rattled. They started off laughing. They weren’t by the time he sat down. Strong performance to go out on.

- Replying to @reporterboyWell this “took” off. Thank you for the nice comments my favourite being “this is why I still use Twitter” ….so here’s a few more pics to give you a clearer idea.
- This is the worst justification yet. The idea that parents who choose to spend their money on their children’s education are “holding back” other children is risible and dishonest. For too long children have been held back, not because of a lack of talent, but a lack of opportunity. I’m determined to change that. That starts with ending the tax break enjoyed by private schools so we can put more money into our state schools. mirror.co.uk/news/politics/…
- It’s amazing the number of MPs on here today making a song and dance about going to Westminster and working on a Saturday as if it’s some kind of achievement. Millions of ‘working people’ do so at weekends, throughout the year. Yes doing your duty, no, not special at all.
- Foolish of the PM to cite a speech I, with colleagues, lived & breathed for weeks and months . We know the relevant line was there, was said, in the time frame of the case, - the PM’s misquote of one line in his patchy defence was impossible, irresponsible and most of all unwise!
- Wrong end of the telescope- I have every right to choose what I wish to be done with the money I did everything to earn.‘You don’t have a right to inherit money from mummy and daddy that you did nothing to earn.' @lewis_goodall suggests hiking inheritance tax to 100% in order to reduce income tax and 'incentivise work.'
00:00 - I have a bit of professional news I am very very pleased about. Journey starts today. Delighted and honoured to have been asked.Introducing ConservativeHome's new Editor: Giles Dilnot (@reporterboy): conservativehome.com/2024/08/19/int…
