I am considering becoming more vocal criticizing #bitcoin and the #LightningNetwork ... As a researcher I find sound and substatial criticism extremely important. Unfortnunatly most critics do (even if they underdtand the fundamentals of the technology) a terrible job... 1/2

~3 years ago I began working on "the #lightningnetwork book" Only 3 months later @aantonop reached out & suggested to team up with @roasbeef. Now I am proud to say we have "mastering the lightning network". I'm sure I would not have managed this alone! #24herosOfLightning

OMFG!!! IT WORKS! @c_otto83 just sent me 0.6 real #Bitcoin via #LightningNetwork * No prior probing for liquidity required! * Just Optimally reliable payment flows! * 137 partial payments sent! * 92 arrived successfully! * time to complete: 81 seconds (mostly network rtt)

Don't trust, Verify! Happy to see the first independent verification by @c_otto83 of the experiments that @stefanwouldgo and I did last summer! TL;DR: within 13 seconds optimally reliable payment flows can deliver 0.6 tBTC while LND by @lightning labs has only 30% delivered (:

I might be biased on this, but: The ability for instant, secure & p2p value transfer (without central authority) is a historic technological breakthrough Despite recent news I think the #lightningnetwork is still one of the most overlooked & underrated technologies in the world

When I became a #lightningnetwork developer I was naive. I thought I understood #bitcoin & LN because the protocol was technically clear. After 5 years I am starting to grasp that permissionless & decentralized have subtle consequences making #bitcoin its own biggest challenger

I still don't understand what is going on or what the implications will be... But it's moment like these when I remember why I work my ass off on making peer to peer cash a reality Self sovereign #bitcoin payments via #LightningNetwork without custodians seem really desirable

Here are my 2 sats: Proofing that something works seems btw much more #sustainable then just spending large sums of money on a #populist #marketing #campaign to demand something. Many users changed their config file to #zeroBasefee because of our research (no campaign!) 11/11

I thought I did understand it... ...but I think I still don't fully grasp what it means that (to the best of my knowledge) on a technical level... ...#Bitcoin fundamentally cannot be censored or stopped. It is literally mind blowing for me.
