Just speechless… “The Fund” is a NYT bestseller. This was not in my wildest expectations. Not in a stacked week with Britney, Barbra and every other celeb memoir you can imagine. Thank you all and to @StMartinsPress. Back soon to my regularly scheduled snark.

1/ You’ve heard @elonmusk talk a lot about his “awesome” ~$50K house on the border But I live in Austin, and I know he’s here a lot. So I made...a lot of calls What I found out is he also lives in a colossal mansion borrowed from a friend named “Kenny”

3/ Here is where @elonmusk has been living in Austin It’s owned by @KenHowery. He’s a longtime friend of Musk’s and a billionaire in his own right. He was also U.S. ambassador to Sweden under Pres. Trump wsj.com/articles/elon-…

2/ Here is the house @elonmusk says is his primary home. It’s basically in the middle of nowhere (but near @SpaceX ) He is registered to vote here. Despite reports to the contrary, it is not a temporary, modular structure. wsj.com/articles/elon-…

A mother of two students raced to Robb elementary school in Uvalde once she heard reports of a shooter. She was forty miles away. Once she got there, the police still hadn't entered. And they swiftly put her in handcuffs.

Many have asked: Why out of all things has @elonmusk decided Twitter is something that he alone can fix? The answer, we discovered, is a secret crew of billionaires and misfits egging him on behind the scenes (1/x)

So Elon Musk's new "joke" startup, the Boring Co., needed a lot of help from @SpaceX. But almost all of any future benefits will flow to @elonmusk himself. This vexed even some of his biggest fans. wsj.com/articles/elon-…

Kevin Cernekee is your prototypical Google engineer in all ways but one. He's an unabashed Republican and supporter of @realDonaldTrump. He says that got him fired. Inside Google, political clashes rage between left and right wsj.com/articles/fired…

4/ Here is a photo of Ken Howery. I am reliably informed that IRL he does not look like a movie villain. His friends like him a lot and are loyal to him. Some of them told me they didn’t even know about the housing arrangement with Elon. wsj.com/articles/elon-…

5/ Related: I am now the Texas business reporter for @WSJ, a new position covering the torrent of wealth in this region. I believe I am the first person ever to move from San Francisco to Austin. Features, investigations, profiles, fun larks TK.

I’m here in Uvalde, where local law enforcement just briefed families waiting on unaccounted-for kids. It’s not good. “We are not exactly sure how many kids are deceased,” the officer said. It will be days before bodies are returned for burial, due to autopsies, he said.

You hear a lot about fights going on with @elonmusk on this fine platform. An even bigger one -- over his $230 billion fortune -- has raging behind the scenes. It involves, natch, an ex-gambler, Burning Man and a reference to Jesus. wsj.com/articles/elon-…
