My thesis is that Silicon Valley VCs are mostly still skating towards the most obvious categories in generative AI: picks and shovels.
But the biggest home runs of this AI cycle will be *vertical AIs* — vertical LLMs & multi-modal models, vertical-specific AI UIs.
People are calling Gemini 1.5 Pro a “RAG killer” — with 10M context window, you can now chat with whole code bases, books, movies. No search/retrieval is needed anymore!
