The pandemic ends when infections end, not when your attention span ends.
- This is not right. This is not normal. This is not "a cold". This is COVID. This is reckless. This is dangerous.
- HIV killed NOBODY immediately after infection. Nobody got really sick either, initially. It was only after 8 to 10 years that the damage became evident, and people began to drop dead. COVID has already killed tens of millions. Hundreds of millions are already chronically ill.
- You know COVID is mild and affects only the weak, vulnerable and old, when Olympic athletes are dropping like flies.
- The pandemic ends when infections end, not when your attention span ends.
- It's a sad way to live... No mask and photographing strangers who are minding their own business. The amount of mental illness and denial in these men is sad actually.
- Semester after semester, I'm the lone masker in my classrooms. Students see me mask consistently, never ill, never absent. They are constantly sick, missing classes, sending me medical excuses. The dots remain unconnected... They say to teach by example. I do. Anyway... 🙄
- Let's say it clearly: COVID is so contagious and the current wave so large that IF YOU DON'T MASK YOU WILL BE INFECTED THIS SUMMER. Perhaps you look forward to your infection. Perhaps you think it is harmless or even desirable to be infected. If so, enjoy. If not, 😷.
- Can you imagine people during some episode of the bubonic plague saying, "It's been two years of this crap already, man. Fuck it! I want brunch with friends. We have to learn to live with it."? Yeah. Me neither.
- If you are surprised that doctors resist masking, remember that not long ago (less than 200 years), they resisted handwashing and instrument sterilization. Engineers, chemists, physicists, Long COVID patients, do better at understanding airborne transmission than medical doctors.
- We're not post COVID, but we are post public health. Enjoy! 🤡🥴😵💫

- "You're obsessed with COVID." Yes, since it interferes with my ability to live, I am obsessed with it. Like I am obsessed with breathing, having access to water and food, and other capricious eccentricities. I'm weird like that.
GIF - What "learn how to live" with COVID actually means: Masking, ventilation, filtration. Trying to avoid infection. Vaccination. Anything less is "not learning how to live" with COVID. It's becoming infected, chronically ill, and prematurely dead with COVID. Your choice.
