It’s weird bc people don’t realize that Evan did the model posing and layout of the shot She still put in the artistic effort, only instead of a sketch, she posed every limb, face piece, and finger joint on the character rigs It’s NOT easier than sketching, trust me

Probably because they are very well aware of the flaws the comics had in their art style/direction for a long time now, especially with traced models. It's gotten better in recent years but it's clear they used to do this straight up as evident by this GIF.
