A version of presentation I used today in UCC in talk on xenophobia in Ireland. Mentions some of key lies and conspiracy theories being promoted by the far right around the world and in Ireland; key Irish players; examples of racism, xenophobia, antisemitism, islamophobia

John Humphries on BBC4 asks @HMcEntee why Ireland doesn't 'throw in its lot' with the UK and Leave EU. She points out calmly that 92% of people in this country think otherwise. What planet are some Brits living on?

The racist anger, hate, intolerance and sheer brainless inhumanity are reaching new lows all the time. This is not who most of us are and these people need to be isolated

The management of Wilson's Hospital School are to be congratulated for having the courage to stand up to a bully and religious bigot, Enoch Burke. They are right to put the interests of their pupils first and to refuse to submit to fanatical intolerance.

Yes. This also goes well beyond the label of an individual's mental illness and includes the fostering of a toxic and dangerous climate of misogyny

They hide behind the nation's flag as if it belonged to them, but they are the real traitors to our history and identity. Ireland belongs to all of us, including those who have come here and chosen it.

Watching Prime Time now and feeling angry, but I have a house. The post-2008 phenomenon of international investment funds buying entire blocs of houses, preventing young people having a future and with virtually no social housing on offer, is simply wrong.

Conor McGregor: all brawn, but no brain. Incoherent, indiscriminate hate. We should all be ashamed that a thug like McGregor can claim to be Irish and spread this kind of nonsense. As for Blighe, this liar works 24/7 to poison people with his racism and hate, and fails every time

Perhaps the tiniest far right demo ever. The usual thugs including one who tried to start a brawl. Standing against them, a vastly larger crowd in favour of tolerance and against hate and bigotry

Dublin now. Threats of violence, bad Irish, vainglorious, dishonest speeches and poses worse than any Hollywood stage-Irishness you could imagine. Above all, lies, xenophobia, intolerance and hate. Ireland belongs to all who live here, not this rent-a-crowd fascist mob.

Cycling in Blarney when, without warning or signal, an oncoming car turned right, cutting directly into my path; full-force collision unavoidable. Bike a write-off but I'm OK; the crash helmet undoubtedly helped. I'm a cyclist for 55 years - it's still unacceptably dangerous.

The Far Right has been destroyed in GE2024 The Government should not respond to racist rhetoric but should be more sensitive to people in disadvantaged areas instead of allowing the weaponisation of hate

This is middle Ireland. Not the divisive, hate-filled fantasies of McGregor and assorted other man-children, dripping in bile and racist hate. Small towns and villages in west showcase Ireland of the welcomes
