An update on the AFC's plans to reform continental club football. - #ACL to be trimmed to 24 "elite" clubs, down from the expanded 40 club format we have today. - #AFCCup will become an open tournament, without regional zones. - A third tier tournament will be introduced.

Another dominant performance from India that regrettably fails to turn their pressure into goals. In the end, the right team progresses, though. Ilic's reign as Lebanon coach continues to hang by a thread. Difficult to see many positives in this side, compared to two years ago.

Guangzhou FC (nee Evergrande), eight times CSL winners between 2011-19, two times ACL winners, are relegated to the second tier of China for the first time in over a decade. Their rise/fall came to define the Chinese football bubble. A memorable period in Asian football is over.

Manuchekhr Dzhalilov, Tajikistan's all-time leading scorer and Alisher's cousin, watching on from the stands. He hasn't played football since his cancer diagnosis last summer. I'm thrilled to see him enjoying the football here. His team could've done with him there, though!

Update on the joint World Cup/Asian Cup Qualification draw. It has been decided that the draw will take place after the 20th July FIFA rankings update. June's international window results will now contribute to a nation's pot allocation. #AsianQualifiers #WCQ #ACQ

This is just Qatar revisited. Is it sportwashing that bothers you, is it the financial sustainability, or is it maybe, that a league from outside Europe (or the US) dares to try and compete? Morals are quickly discarded when the status quo is at threat.

Bernardo Silva is in his peak years & has been one of the best players in Europe for the last five years! I wasn’t worried about the Saudi League taking players in their 30’s, a touch worried with players below the elite (Neves) but if this happens it feels like a game changer
