Would I have joined this platform at the outset if it had been like this? No way. So perhaps we can rate biscuits, match fonts to the footballers whose spirit they most embody & list the clothing brands that were most likely to get you duffed up at school over on the other place.

Do you know what old people often find stressful and upsetting? It’s car parks where you can only pay by using an app or a credit card. Quite a lot of old people don’t carry the latter (yes, really) and they have no idea what an app is. (1/9)

Is it just me or was it actually really shitty of commentator Sam Matterface to say, "They needed Gary Lineker and they got Chris Waddle" about the player whose first penalty kept England in the game and in doing so, equalled Wayne Rooney's record-breaking all-time tally?

The expression on Bruce Springsteen’s face as he looked at Paul McCartney playing alongside him is a reminder that we never really grow up. In that moment we were all Bruce.

But it does rather break my heart how difficult we’ve made it for old people to go about their daily business and how we terrorise them for the crime of not knowing how to download a fucking app. (9/9)

Oh my God. @thatdanstevens, you beauty! It’s one thing to decide to do this, but to execute it with such nerveless poise on live TV is pure genius. Just fantastic! xx

Here’s my dad, Chris Paphides. He left us in the early hours of Sunday. The weekend before, I took a photo of him in his element, presiding over the traditional Greek Easter souvla. It occurred to me that it might be my last chance to get one. I desperately wish it hadn’t been.

Handy reminder of all the times there wasn’t a crack in Theresa May’s voice: Grenfell, Windrush, refusal to accept child refugees in 2016. You’re welcome.

Back in 1997 when I was younger and a bit more fearless, I interviewed the Bee Gees and asked them if they’d sing a modified version of this song for my outgoing answerphone message. Amazingly, they didn’t tell me to get lost. #timstwitterlisteningparty

It’d be nice if news outlets curbed this tendency to insinuate hypocrisy in people who are at least trying to make a difference, while at the same time giving crooks & racists a free pass just because they’re openly trying to make the world an awful place.

Parenthetical point. I suspect that the alienation of the old caused by the automation of everyday life also means that when some snake oil salesman comes along & asks, “Would you like to *take back control*?” a lot of those people will quite understandably go, “Where do I sign?"

I got back from Glastonbury late last night. I’ve been to every Festival since 1992 when I got some work there as a steward, checking wristbands on the gates. (1/17)

Worth remembering when shops reopen – also in view of the fact that Timpson is the same company that, for no charge, offers to dry clean the suits of unemployed people going for a job interview.

The furlough top up for our colleagues to 100% of pay costs us £500,000 a week, not £500,000 a month as it says in today’s Sunday Times. It’s worth every penny to help our colleagues and their families through some tough weeks.

If only there had been some way of knowing. Some indication, no matter how slight.
