This year has serious pacing issues.

- One note I often give clients is to make sure they keep track of the weather in their books & I'm not sure if it's because it's always important to their story or if it's because I wanted to be a meteorologist growing up & this is how I'm working it into my publishing career.
- I had the pleasure of reading a manuscript today that was so well-crafted and had such a specific and sharp voice that I was reminded that writers are indeed witches casting spells.
- A Friday submission-reading thought: I like the start of a MS to feel like I've just caught a train as it's pulling out of the station, and I have to run and pull myself up onto it. The story should be in motion before it even begins; I like to play a bit of catch-up with it.
- I made my first offer of representation of 2019 today! 🍾🎉🤞
- One of the greatest joys of this job is reading a new draft of a client's manuscript and discovering an already fantastic story has now transformed into a truly transcendent one. Tonight, @AyanaGray, you have brought me this joy!
- Query tip: I suggest putting a generic version of your query at the start of your manuscript, as many agents send your MS to their e-reader & so when they open your MS later, the query will help them contextualize what they're diving into & why they're so excited to do so!
- JOB ALERT: I'm looking for an associate to join me in Park & Fine's children's & YA department! This is a great position for someone with a passion for MG & YA, a sharp editorial eye & an interest in getting on the agent track. See full job details here: publishersmarketplace.com/jobs/view.cgi?…
- Writers: I am hungry and excited to sign new clients in 2019, so if you're querying a MG or YA, please consider querying me! You can learn how to do so here: parkliterary.com/get-in-touch/ #mswl #askagent #tenqueries #mg #ya
- I am editing a new client's debut contemporary YA right now and good grief is the voice of this book unbelievable. There are just so many moments, lines, and details that are so perfect that I have to take a breath and collect myself before moving on.
- If I don't like your #pitmad tweet, it's possible I will still love your book and pitch, so always feel free to query your middle grade and YA fiction and graphic novels!
- When I read a submission I am really into, I get a panicky feeling like: I love it but will it love me back? This tweet brought to you by a ridiculously good middle grade manuscript.
