Much of this dossier comes from what we've learned in our workplace struggles at UC, and those of comrades we've connected with along the way at universities across the country. As we gear up for a likely possibility that we'll need to take action again in 2026, it's a must-read
New higher ed dispatch synthesizing lessons from years of struggle, including many long strikes, about the levers academic workers can pull to force concessions from the boss. In short, it asks, “What leverage do we have at work?”  longhaulmag.com/2025/12/02/the…

We are fired and it's official. @ucsc terminated student workers engaged in #ucscstrike strike for a Cost of Living Adjustment (#COLA). Did we get a COLA? No! So why would we stop striking? #cola4all

UC is one of the largest landlords in the state of California. Would be a shame if we had one big rent strike, wouldn’t it.....

Bernie endorsed our campaign, #UCSCstrike, and our fight for #COLA4all. We stand with @BernieSanders as he stands with us! Solidarity forever!
UCSC grad students are fighting to have their labor rights acknowledged. I strongly urge the president of the UC system to stop threatening them, especially immigrant students, for organizing. I stand with @payusmoreucsc npr.org/2020/02/15/806…

Students workers fired by @UCSC for striking will be stripped of their health insurance in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It's over 80 people, among them are pregnant, undocumented, international, immunocompromised, chronically ill people, and some of them have dependents.

WHY ARE UCSC GRAD STUDENT WORKERS ON A WILD CAT STRIKE? As early as September 2019, organizers as part of the GSA, UAW2865, and from across campus have been calling for a Cost of Living Adjustment. The demand has been presented to UCSC administration without equivocations. (1/)

We may lose our jobs for striking but this strike is not just about a living wage; it's about the future of higher education and who has access to it #ucscstrike #cola4all

We begin week two of our full wildcat strike. We confront a problem that transcends Santa Cruz: The domination of education by market forces, as well as administrators who see the market as the solution to all problems. Their reign must end.

Stand off w/ 100+ cops in riot gear for nearly 4 hours today. 16 students arrested. We demand a living wage, not a police campus #UCSCstrike #cola4all
This is how @ucsc responds to its workers requesting a living wage - with police and violent arrests. Sixteen arrests reported from the ground so far, one for trying to deliver water to protesters. Follow @payusmoreucsc for updates and video. #CopsOffCampus #cola4all #UCSCstrike
