Did you feel that? Vancouver’s most common foe is the relentless raindrop. Inspired by classic Japanese anime storytelling and our beautiful climate, our very own Manuel Neto took a personal character study and transformed it into this fun homage. Staying dry never felt so fun.

We had the pleasure of working with our friends at Elastic once again on an opener video for their ElasticOn Global 2021 event just a few weeks ago, hope you enjoy!

Today, we're excited to release Play into the world – a place where we post project files from stuff we've worked on, as a way of giving back to the awesome motion design community we've learned so much from. Freely received, freely given. ordinaryfolk.co/play

It’s a hard task to capture the heart and soul of a company in under a minute, but when @elastic reached out asking us to help kick off their Global All Hands meeting the right way, we *banded* together with some of our favourite people and made it happen.

The creative process can be a violent journey. It can spin you around, and box you in. Until you finally break through. A huge thanks to the @Procreate team for bringing us in to flex what their new animation software, Dreams, can do.

WTF is @nounsdao? That’s the question we sought to answer in this crazy video – packing in more artistic styles than we’ve ever put into a project before, and a sprinkling of humour along the way.

What does a fully 3D Ordinary Folk project look and feel like? We had no idea either, so we started with two shapes. Then mashed our 2d keyframes and transitions with Josh Edward’s masterful 3D tactile materials and lighting. Check it out! 🟠🟩

It’s hard to believe we started Ordinary Folk back in 2019. And what better way to celebrate our 4th anniversary than to launch a new site and a new reel of some of our favourite projects of the past few years. Edited to the original music by Ambrose Yu.

This dead project has found new life! We’re proud to finally share this director's cut with the world. We call it: Person who runs through nondescript mainframes in a beautiful fashion.

'Let's animate a skull" Our amazing intern Joélie @JoCml1 made a cool little video of how to make a skull rotate in a smooth way, with tips from the one and only @VictorClaudioDI!

We’re still buzzing that we had the opportunity to collaborate with @Google on their brand new Gemini app launch! So grateful to work with such an incredible crew on this one. Fun to see their "new thing" come to life.

2019 was an eventful year! We took a tiny chunk of all of our favourite projects from this year and made a little cutdown (no, it's not a reel😜) — we'd love to see some of these from all you awesome folks! Use the hashtag #motionflashback and let's make this a thing, maybe.
