    A weird property of the frontier: finding the edge forces a realization that there’s very few people there, the others who’ve found it are tightly clustered and therefore quite happy to see you, and you all can’t help but ask “where is everybody?” in escalating confusion

    It’s strange that climate is so often framed as “save the planet”. The planet doesn’t care, it’ll be fine on geologic timescales. It’s about saving people.

    When I was little I looked at the space race and dreamed the world would rally around a huge science project again. 10+ gigaton scale negative emissions is that! It’s urgent, necessary, hard, dramatic, all of it. It’s the defining project of our generation.

    In parallel with zeroing out emissions, we'll need to remove a trillion tons of CO2 from the air and oceans. We @lowercarbon just raised a new $350m to support the world's best attempts. There's never been a better time to start a carbon removal company!
