I taught Siri to play Blackjack, using Pythonista on my iPhone. 😬 Still not sure how useful this feature will be, but it would also be kind of weird not to support this stuff in Pythonista (coming soon as a free update).

- Pythonista 3.4 is finally out on the App Store. 🥳 It comes with Python 3.10, updated modules (openai, pandas), and many new possibilities for iOS automation with Python actions in the Shortcuts app. 🐍 apps.apple.com/de/app/pythoni…
- I've made a little (free) Mac app for downloading videos from the web – it's basically a GUI wrapper around the `youtube-dl` command-line tool, but I've tried to make it not too obvious. – Direct download (no App Store, but notarized for Catalina): omz-software.com/vidl
- Wasn't sure I'd get a new beta out before Twitter burns down, but I'm happy to announce that Pythonista is alive, 3.10 support on the way, along with pandas, real Shortcuts integration, and more. The update will be free for existing users when it's out on the App Store.
- I've made some pretty good progress with hardware keyboard support in Pythonista – I didn't touch the screen at all during this entire demo. (TestFlight beta in a few days.)

- I suspect that 90% of users have no idea what distinguishes these two (completely separate) rows of icons, aside from the color.

- I probably shouldn’t read too much into this, but what if the rumored new iOS/Mac UI framework is based entirely on SceneKit? I don’t mean a fully 3D UI, but more direct access to shaders instead of UIVisualEffect, more sophisticated materials, shadows, animations etc.
- TIL there's a UIImage category method called ASCIIDescriptionWithWidth:Height: in AssetsLibrary.framework that actually produces ASCII art.
