i think a lot of people attach their sense of self to the books, music, fashion, art, etc, that they like (myself included). so they internalise negative reviews and interpret them as personal attacks: “are you saying something is wrong with me because i enjoyed this? 😡”

i specifically look for negative reviews of film i liked. i want to know if there's possibly a reading i didn't attempt, a way of seeing of which i am deprived. it rather intellectually stimulates than revs up vitriol. to me it's a way of probing the limits of perception & biases

yes, you have sexual agency. yes, you can choose to have or not have sex for a myriad of reasons. you may even choose to only have sex in committed relationships. however, the idea that sex *devalues* or *taints* you as a woman is purity culture 101. stop conflating the two.
