- I've been experimenting with making ARKit artwork and games tied to a location. Looking for feedback and collaborators!
00:00 - Feature complete for Plasticity v2025.1 ... A couple weeks to bake and we're good to go. A ton of great new features and a revamped ui that is more efficient to use and looks really sexy
- There isn't yet much documentation for Plasticity. At the moment these are the best learning resources available: youtube.com/watch?v=ZhD4uV… artstation.com/marketplace/p/… youtube.com/playlist?list=… youtube.com/@jonmoberlycre… youtube.com/@Kuechmeister nullpointerecho.notion.site/nullpointerech…
- Probably my favorite feature in the next release is interference (section) analysis. This is my first time doing something substantial using stencil buffers. Not super complicated but the code is very cute.
00:00 - The irony of tweeting with an embedded image and link to an article with thousands of words is somehow lost hereIn unending quest to ruin the product, Twitter execs press ahead w/ 10,000-character limit. mashable.com/2016/01/05/twi…
- There is an (almost!) forgotten branch of CAD history, pioneered by SolidEdge and SpaceClaim, which mixed driving dimensions with direct editing. It was a cool alternative to parametric, but never really caught on.
00:00 - I am pretty impressed with @vercel's Fluid compute. Flipped the switch and latency on my API endpoints dropped instantly and significantly. And it costs less money too.
- This is a microbenchmark, but I think it's one that users will value. The latest version of Plasticity fully initializes in less than 1.5 seconds. "Time till first box" (TTFB) is 3.5 seconds. With Fusion 360 takes over 19 seconds before the user can make a box.
00:00 - It's definitely going to be an effort to make an Electron app like this feel truly native. But at least it's not hard to get great performance with a smart mix of Javascript and C++ x.com/nk/status/1482…
00:00Honestly I hate doing UI work because I suck at it, but I tried out @tailwindcss this week and I got pretty decent results without much effort
