    A THREAD: Today, we are pleased to republish The Associated Press investigation that exposed the infamous “The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male,” on the 50th anniversary of its appearance in news outlets around the county.
    This 1950's photo made available by the National Archives shows a man included in a syphilis study in Alabama. For 40 years starting in 1932, medical workers in the segregated South withheld treatment for Black men who were unaware they had syphilis, so doctors could track the ravages of the illness and dissect their bodies afterward.     Wild story by my colleagues @AP investigative reporters @JimMustian and @APjoshgoodman. A disgraced DEA agent said some former colleagues joined him in skimming millions from drug money laundering stings to fund luxury overseas travel, gifts, etc.
