The Patriots are getting a 4th round compensatory pick in this year's draft for letting Kyle Van Noy go to Miami for a season. Now they have both the pick and Van Noy for 2021.

I can't believe I missed this when it happened. When the Chargers signed Sebastian Joseph-Day to an $8M APY contract that they terminated via this tweet, it created a 5th round 2023 compensatory pick for their intrastadium rival in the Rams. LAR drafted this guy with that pick:
    we have waived Sebastian Joseph-Day

And now the 4th-9th overall picks are all held by the teams just off the New Jersey Turnpike: 4. NYJ (from SEA) 5. NYJ 6. NYG 7. NYG (from CHI) 8. PHI 9. PHI (from MIA)
If the season were to end right now, the 4th-10th overall picks in the 2022 NFL Draft would be as follows: 4. NYJ 5. NYJ (from SEA) 6. NYG 7. NYG (from CHI) 8. WAS 9. PHI 10. PHI (from MIA) Can we call an audible to get this draft back in New York for crowd watching purposes?

This 2024 compensatory pick news just shot my followers count up into five figures. Much thanks to whichever Bengals fan was #10,000! Not going to lie, I hope the Bengals draft a Hall Of Famer with the 97th overall pick to seal this place in NFL history.

My annual evaluation of my compensatory picks projection for 2024 will have to wait for several reasons. But in the meantime, something is really, really wrong with the 3rd/4th round cutoff--to the point that I'm concerned that the NFL Management Council may have made an error.

The Bengals also got a 6th round 2024 compensatory that indirectly came from Vonn Bell going to Charlotte for a season. Now they have the comp pick and Bell in the same season--along with most of the salary being paid by the Panthers.
The #Bengals are bringing back S and captain Vonn Bell, per agent @davidcanter. He gets a 1-year, $6M fully guaranteed deal... that's getting paid by Carolina. He's on the minimum from Cincy.

Out of 851 players cut yesterday as identified by OTC, only 24 were claimed off waivers. That's 2.82%. A regular lesson for fans to learn when they're worried about their favorite fringe roster players on their favorite team being lost to waivers is just how rare it happens.

Signing Gerald Everett for what turned out to be just one season for $6.5M cost the Bears a 4th round 2025 compensatory pick for Darnell Mooney leaving for Atlanta.
Bears told veteran TE Gerald Everett that they plan to release him, a move that will free up $5.5 million in salary cap space.

The Bengals got a big road win against a division rival, and also get good comp pick news this week. John Ross played 51% of the snaps for NYG, getting his contract back into qualifying as a compensatory free agent again, and restoring a 4th rounder for CIN.
